Electric AVIA
In recent years, an increasing number of
automotive companies have realized the necessity of an ecological approach to production. At the
beginning of 2006, AVIA offered the English company Smith Electric Vehicles (SEV) the opportunity
to be its exclusive supplier of chassis with cabins. Electro-vehicles built on AVIA's chassis were
first introduced in London in December 2006. Electric engines with high torque moment and 120 kW
power are used. Torque moment is controlled electrically and the highest speed is limited to 50 mph
(80 km/hour). Electro-vehicles on AVIA EURO 4 chassis are supplied in three basic variants – 7.5
tons, 10 tons and 12 tons. One advantage is that electric vehicles are not subjected to the fees
collected from vehicles entering the London central area, which is 8 British pounds (320 CZK) a
day. In 2008, AVIA with Smith company will supply 500 chassis for the UK market. Currently, AVIA is
exploring a similar approach for domestic markets.
